At TCU, pre-health is not a major, but an academic enhancement program. 而 majority of pre-health students major in biology or another science, pre-health students hail from more than 40 different majors.
The Pre-健康 Professions Institute provides advising and programming designed to enhance the academic and extracurricular experience of pre-professional students at TCU. Pre-健康 faculty and staff provide a personal touch to ensure our students’ preparedness for professional school. This accounts for an acceptance rate to professional school that is 1.5-2x the national average. Our institute offers a number of opportunities in global health and the medical humanities, helping our students to become well-rounded future health care leaders.

The faculty advisors of the 健康 Professions Advisory Committee are caring teacher-scholars
from five departments with expertise ranging from the medical humanities to traditional
science disciplines. They have decades of experience working with Pre-健康 students,
and several faculty advisors have been recognized among the university’s best mentors

Access to faculty through weekly walk-in advising and formal one-on-one advising
each semester ensure that students get the advice and mentoring they need.
What Sets Us Apart
Our student-to-advisor ratio is one of the lowest in the nation. And our institute boasts an 80 percent acceptance rate to medical school—almost twice the state and national average—and acceptance rates of 80 percent or higher to the other health professions schools.
We’ve created a rigorous science curriculum designed with the Pre-健康 student in mind, helping you excel on admission exams and in professional school.
A clinical observations program allows you to engage in short-term shadowing opportunities beginning your first year.
We facilitate health-related internships in emergency medicine, oncology, community health, and fetal medicine, as well as volunteer opportunities with health-related organizations within the community.
Career Prospects
Our students matriculate to medical, dental, veterinary medicine, physician assistant, pharmacy, optometry, podiatry and public health professional programs. 在过去 30 years, approximately 1,000 pre-health alumni have been accepted to professional schools around the country, including Harvard, Johns Hopkins, New York University and every medical and dental school in Texas. We support any student wishing to apply to professional school, regardless of GPA and standardized test score.
